Tim Love Memorial Award

A generous donation to The FLYWERX Project made by Cathi Love in memory of her late husband Tim, has led to create the 2025 Tim Love Memorial Award, which will be given out to a graduate of this year’s Western River’s Veteran’s Guide School.

 

There are times in our lives when we come across people whose passions radiate through them, and they are able to touch the hearts and minds of those around them in ways that only God can truly understand. While I personally did not know Tim, or had the pleasure of fishing with him, everyone who I have spoken with has had nothing but amazing things to say about him and how much he loved fly fishing. His excitement for fishing radiated through him, he was dedicated to the craft and to becoming a better angler, yet most of all, he loved to share his passion with others. Furthermore, Tim understood something about fly fishing; he understood that it was not about the fish he caught, but about the healing powers of being tied to the water.

 

Tim has been described by his close friend Mike as being a “fantastic fly fisherman, guide and friend. He loved the rivers, was an expert on reading the water and following the hatches, and was someone who respected the outdoors. The best thing about Tim was his eagerness to share these experiences with others.”

 

Tim attended the Western Rivers Guide School in the mid 1990’s and soon after became a guide in Wyoming, where he guided the wild rivers, lakes, and streams of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. His passion for fly fishing took him to some amazing fisheries, however, his true love was fishing the wild waters of Yellowstone.

 

While Tim was not a Veteran, his wife Cathi, a personal friend of mine, has told me he had great respect for those who serve and have served in the military, and we know that Tim is smiling in heaven knowing his memory will help Veterans achieve the ultimate experience, learning how to fly fish!
